Ashida Kenzan (Ashida Seiji) was born October 10, 1921.
He studied Tozan-ryū shakuhachi under Kikuchi Ritsuzan (a student of Yasaka Reizan I) attaining the rank of Dai-Shihan and the title Chikurin-ken.
He was advisor and former vice-chairman of the Saitama Branch of the Tozan-ryū, a Hokkaido University Faculty of Technology graduate, and a former national civil servant.
